I just graduated from high school. I'm moderately lazy, I don't feel like I even know enough about computers to have been accepted sometimes.

After glancing around forums for a bit, I've also noticed that at least a few people who will be in my class (Fall 2010) aren't too excited to know that there will be at least a few fresh from high school, and I understand why. However, I like to think I'm not as... okay, there's no easy way to phrase this, dumb as a good portion of young adults still in high school. I'm also planning to live in student housing..

Short Version: I don't want people to be ignorant because I'm fresh from high school. I dealt with enough ignorance in high school. I would also like to meet some Neubs (I love that term XD) who will be attending in Fall 2010. Email me or use this topic. Thanks!

Hey cbacon I know how ya feel. When I graduated from high school and got accepted to Neumont I was really worried for a while and wasn't sure if I would be able to make it. Yet three quarters later I'm still here. The professors here are really good and if you ask for help you'll get it, then there's the tutors who are are always ready to help. So there's not much to worry about.
My logic is null and therefore cannot be argued.

I'm sort of fresh out of high school. I graduated a year early, not as impressive as it sounds btw. So this year I was going to community college, however I didn't take to many classes XD. Anyways I hope to see you at the start of fall as well!

Most people who come to Neumont are fresh out of high school and don't have much computer experience. I think the best part about that is everyone is nervous but we all learn together and become awesome friends. I miss the good old days going to Neumont with my awesome Neumont dudes!

b_k is right. Most of the students who come here are fresh out of high school. Almost every one of the 100 some odd people in my cohort were out of HS. So that is nothing to worry about. And I know there are tons of people in my cohort who absolutely cannot wait to meet all the new cohorts, including yours. Neumont is a pretty friendly, supportive place. If you have any other worries or questions, feel free to let me know!

kayla.price@student.neumont.edu can't wait to meet you!

wow, I didn't realize there were quite so many fresh outta high school-ers starting this fall. I don't feel quite so alone now. =] This summer has really flown by and now all of a sudden, everything is starting to come together and fall into place for it start. I can't wait, but there is always that apprehension of someplace new/different. Anxious

The other thing that scares me is that I really don't have any experience. For the people that have already been in school for a bit now: is it possible to do okay even without experience? Like will I learn everything I need to know there?

So i am in my fourth quarter here, and when i started i had no actual experience with coding. The teachers don't expect you to be able to code a big complex program your first week, they start you out slow teach you the basics. They will teach you just about everything you need to know for their class and if they don't teach it to you directly they will give you what you need to learn it. If you need help understanding something ASK the teacher they are more then happy to help,or other students.

so in short yes even with out any experience you can do well, but only if you apply yourself, get help when you need it, and work for it. You have to earn the grade.

Edit: Oh and cant wait to see you all in the fall!

What's up peoples. This is only my 4th week here but I thought I give you my opinion. I was worried too, even though I got an Associates in Databases. Most of the people I think are out of high school, but like in any high education place you'll have to actually study and such. I'm pretty sure there're people here who'll help ya, you just gotta ask. So far the classes have been fairly easy. I'm sure they'll get much harder once we get into advanced topics. I think you'll be fine if you take this seriously.

yeah vengeance, I'm from the sticks too. about 30 miles from nearest civilization. =] The biggest part that's gonna be wierd, is movin' from out here, where the closest town only has about 3000 people, to a city... haha, talk about culture shock, eh?

I'm like completely different I'm Coming from a huge school of about 4000 and going to a University with less then 400! I'm also coming from a city just out side of Chicago and Salt Lake City is no where near as big as Chicago.

Yeah.. I'm coming from a school where there are about 300 students from kindergarten all the way to seniors...

My graduating class was 28 people and only 20 of us graduated as the 100th class to come out of the school :D

Oldest still-functioning high school in Colorado, it sits in a small town of maybe 2000 people.
